What I've been up to

Want an idea of what kind of stuff I've worked on? I've rounded up my wide and varied work experience here:

OVO

At OVO, I worked in our Zero-Carbon living space. This was the area of the business focused on new proposition launches, with a specific focus on services that enabled customers with decarbonisation activities. A lot of my work here involved establishing and communicating customer needs, customer journey mapping, and working with customer segmentation models.

Torchbox

Torchbox is an agency that focuses on charity and public sector clients. I had the privilege of working with Mind, Sue Ryder, The National Institute of Health, and The National Archives during my time at the agency. As one of only two dedicated User Researchers, our UX Designers tended to focus on evaluative work, allowing me to focus on discovery-focused projects, predominantly.

Tails.com

I saw tails.com grow from around 80 people to well over 300. I started as a Product Manager and a year later found myself following my passion for research and founding our UR practice at tails.com. (Noodle &) I achieved a lot in the 5 years I spent at tails.com, including reimagining how we messaged and sold 'core' products, moving to off-subscription and later retail, launching in new territories, and a LOT of work on tailoring and personalisation.

Secret Escapes

At Secret Escapes, I was the PM in charge of BAU. Our squad consisted of me, a UI designer, and 4 developers - where I shared scrum responsibilities with our Squad Lead. During my time, we levelled up our informational UI to enable customers to make decisions faster and introduced our first £0 deposit function to our German site.

Love Home Swap

I started at Love Home Swap when there were about 20 of us squashed into a co-working space in Shoreditch. I began as a Marketing Exec, but soon picked up anything and everything I could. When I started helping our PM, with user interviews, I had no idea I was embarking on a long career in UX. I worked on projects including completely redesigning our homepage, innovating our site search functionality, and introducing an industry-first insurance product to our site.

Emirates

There's nothing like graduating during a recession to help you make a big, maybe slightly crazy, decision. Fresh out of the University of Birmingham with a gleam in my eye and a 2:1 in Cultural Studies and French, I packed my bags and moved to Dubai for my first 'real job.' I was Cabin Crew for Emirates for about 18 months. It taught me a lot of transferable skills I still use today. Better yet, it also gave me a LOT of funny stories which I'm always happy to share!
